How it works
For a price before tax: VAT = price × rate ÷ 100, and the total = price + VAT. For a price that includes tax: price before tax = total ÷ (1 + rate ÷ 100), and the VAT is the difference.

Frequently asked questions
What is the VAT rate in Egypt?
The general rate is 14%. Some goods and services are exempt or carry a different rate, so change the rate in the calculator if yours does, and check with your accountant if you are unsure.
How do I take VAT out of a price?
Divide the price by 1.14 to get the price before tax; the difference is the VAT. The calculator does this when you choose "Price includes VAT".
Does the calculator keep my numbers?
